Getting settled in at work

Transitioning to a new job is tough.  I underestimated how hard it would be to go from knowing how everything works, knowing everyone, and knowing what you're doing 95% of the time to knowing absolutely (let me stress ABSOLUTELY) nothing.  I went from my clients calling me for accounting advice when the FDIC was asking them questions to not really being sure how to contact IT.  Needless to say it has been a shock to the system.  Though the process has been slow, I'm happy to announce that today I felt like myself.

To begin with, I had lunch with a friend from law school.  Well, let me clarify - a girl that went to law school with Bryan.  We ended up starting at Coke on the same day - she was going from contract work to a new full-time role, and I was totally brand spanking new.  We went down to the cafeteria for lunch and had a blast.  She made me feel better about not knowing anything at all and feeling lost most of the time (not only in the buildings, but in my work).  We also talked about non-work related things so it felt like a normal "girl's lunch."  This is where I should probably mention that the co-workers I have gotten to know the best are guys.  Most of the women on my team have been out of the office a good bit since I started, so some girl bonding was much needed.  It was also just nice to know someone else in the company other than my "audit bubble." I also had some good conversations with my co-workers. They've been great from the start, but it takes a little while to get that bond going.  I even got a group of us together to go to downstairs and watch "The Great Happyfication".  It's a new short video that Coke put out, and they were having screenings and free popcorn.  Yes please!

Even though this is a horrible picture of me (clearly not wearing THAT outfit again - Amy, I wore a loose shirt with loose pants - what was I thinking?), it's worth sharing me being me! :)  You can go here to watch the video.  It's really cute, and I love that my company is all about happiness.

I also felt better at work today because I got complimented on my attitude, and my work.  That always makes a person feel good, right?  Needless to say it was a good day at work, and I'm looking forward to a fun weekend.  We have a few plans, but for the most part we're just going to chill.  I couldn't be happier about that!  Have a great one!
