Last official weekend of summer

We spent our long Labor Day weekend soaking up some rays on Edisto Island.  Our very dear (and generous) friends, Kristina and Matt, invited us to spend the long weekend with them and her family.  They have a house right on the beach (and I do mean right on the beach), and they packed it full of wonderful people.  We were blessed to spend time with not only Kris and Matt, but her parents, sister, aunt and uncle, and some of her aunt and uncle's friends. We spent the days on the beach (you couldn't pull us off the beach), and we enjoyed wonderful meals at night along with some football (we won't rehash that horrible UGA loss) and puzzles.  Needless to say, we weren't exactly itching to leave come Monday afternoon, but the real world was calling and so we made the five hour drive back home to be welcomed by tornadoes and cold weather.  I have to say the cold weather has been nice - it's a wonderful reminder that fall is just around the corner! :)  Anyway, here are a few pics from the weekend.  Oh how we wish we were still there.....

The walkway from the house down to the beach.  It was like staying at a fancy resort - Kris' mom put chairs out for everyone in the morning, and Matt kept the adult beverages flowing.  There were no complaints from us!

Bryan got this beautiful shot of the sunrise early one morning.  I failed to mention earlier that he had to work a good bit of the weekend.  He at least had a beautiful view and was still able to enjoy time with everyone since we were only a few steps away at the beach.

View of the house from the beach (and Randy on the stairs).

There were breakers on both sides of the house which made for beautiful views of the ocean.  It also made for an interesting conversation whenever Kris' mom informed us they are also called "groins".  News to us.

We had the pleasure of also having four dogs on the trip (you know that thrilled the dog lovers in Bryan and me).  These two cute pups are Asha and Delia - Michelle's pit bulls.  They are incredibly lovable dogs, and Delia greeted me with the biggest tail wag and kiss every morning.

This is Rocket.  He's a 14 year-old Golden Retriever.  He may be deaf, but he sure does give some good cuddles.  He had a special place in our hearts.

It wouldn't have been a Lischke trip without Vegas!!  Bailey and Vegas are great friends, and we always love getting to spend time with him.

On Sunday, we took a trip to Botany Bay with Kris' parents, aunt and uncle, and their friends (yes, we were the only "kids" who wanted to go).  This was the road on the way there - absolutely beautiful!

Bryan had fun playing in the driftwood.

Botany Bay was beautiful.  Bryan got some great shots of these trees - isn't that crazy?

Back at the house, we enjoyed lots of puzzle time - We may have become a little bit addicted.

Michelle's favorite activity is to read, and we all got some reading time in as well!

Kris working hard on the puzzle - you better have finished it after we left! :)
